The study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-determination and subjective well-being to the students of university X. The hypothesis of this study is there is a relationship between self determination and subjective well-being. The population used in this study was the students of university X. 150 students were drawed as the sample of the study and 50 students were drawed for trials. The data were collected using the probability sampling technique. The measurement instruments used in this study were the Kesejahteraan Subjektif Mahasiswa scale by Utami (2010), and the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scales- In General scale which had been adapted to Indonesian which refered to the self-determination component from Decy and Ryan (2000). Data analyzing was performed using The Pearson product moment correlation. The result showed that the significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) with a value of r = 0.675, this indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between self-determination and subjective well-being in students. Thus the hypothesis proposed in this study was accepted. Keywords: Self-Determination, Subjective Well-Being
