GAMBARAN FAKTOR RISIKO LINGKUNGAN PADA PASIEN PENYAKIT PARKINSON
Background: Parkinson's disease (PP) was first discovered in 1817, during the last century the understanding of PP has developed rapidly. Loss of pigmentation in the substantia nigra is a feature of PP and then progresses to loss of dopamine in the subcortical motor circuits involved in movement disorders in PP. The number of cases of PP increases with age. The prevalence of PP cases has doubled in the last 25 years, the highest prevalence of PP was found in several countries including Indonesia in 2019. The cause of PP is also associated with the use of pesticides, herbicides, and the environment around industrial factories which accumulate in mitochondria. Oxidation and formation of free radicals can cause damage to the nuclei of the thalamus. The purpose of this study was to describe environmental risk factors in patients with Parkinson's disease. The aim of this study was to describe environmental risk factors in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods: This research was carried out at the PUSRI Hospital in Palembang. This study included 25 patients with Parkinson's disease. Data was collected using primary and secondary data, in the form of direct interviews with patients or patient families (caregivers) and medical records.
