The aim of this research is to determine family communication in efforts to prevent deviant behavior among teenagers in RT 28, Kemang Agung Village, Palembang City. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using interview and observation methods. The subjects in this research consisted of elements of intact families, namely father, mother and children, incomplete families only father and children, and incomplete families only mother and children. Aspects of family communication are openness, empathy, equality and support. The results of the research show that family communication is very important in preventing deviant behavior among teenagers in RT 28, Kemang Agung Village, Palembang City. Through family communication, the role of parents in implementing various methods to prevent deviant behavior is 1) In the aspect of openness, namely teaching children about the importance of honesty and encouraging children to communicate openly, admit mistakes, and face the consequences of dishonesty. 2) In the aspect of empathy, parents provide concern, especially when children face difficulties in making decisions. 3) In the equality aspect, conflict resolution is carried out with a gentle approach to children and creates a comfortable atmosphere in building harmonious relationships within the family. 4) In the support aspect, parents provide consistent attention and supervision to children with the aim of maintaining the child's trust, honesty and safety by providing advice directly or indirectly. When at a distance, monitoring is carried out using the telephone. Through these various efforts, parents have taken precautions so that their children avoid deviant behavior.
