The aim of this research is to determine the factors causing low interest in reading at the Melati Mujahidin Community Reading Park in Palembang. The type of research carried out was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection methods were carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects of this research consisted of the chairman of the Community Learning Activity Center, members of the management, and the community in the Community Reading Park environment. In this research, there are 2 factors that cause low interest in reading, namely internal factors and external factors. The research results show that four internal factors; 1) Visitors tend to be lazy about reading for certain purposes, such as just reading textbooks and doing homework, and there is little community participation because the reading park is not well known by the community; 2) People's curiosity is limited to school lessons related to school assignments. Then from the six external factors; 1) Limited facilities, namely incomplete books, narrow space for reading and the position of the reading park is hidden so that people are less interested in visiting; 2) An unsupportive environment, namely low encouragement from friends or the surrounding environment to read or look for books in reading parks, 3) Advances in technology have influenced children because they play with gadgets more often than reading books.
