This study aims to: (1) Describe Politeness Strategies in Buying and Selling Transactions at the Traditional Market of Pulau Kabal Village, Indralaya Utara; (2) Describe the implications of research results for learning Indonesian in high school. The theory used in this study uses the theory of Brown and Levinson. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The source of this research data was obtained from an event or conversation activity between sellers and buyers in the Kabal Island market. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation techniques, listening techniques, note-taking techniques, as well as audio and visual recording techniques. Based on the research results, there are 106 data which are politeness strategies by the community. Divided into two substrategi into positive politeness strategies and negative politeness strategies. A total of 65 data are positive politeness strategies and 41 are negative politeness strategies. The results of this study can be implicated in learning Indonesian in class X high school basic competency 4.10 that is Delivering proposals, offers, agreements, and closing in negotiating texts orally and in writing.
