Background. Critical illness is a life threatening disease, therefore intensive care and comprehensive observation are required. Intensive care in hospital is mandatory which requires attention to the assessment of the patient's nutritional status. Malnutrition can occur when a child is admitted to the hospital and can get worse while the child is on an undergoing treatment in hospital. Malnutrition in critical illness is exacerbated by catabolic stress and inadequate nutritional intake. Malnourished children are at risk of increased complications and worsening organ dysfunction. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and clinical outcomes in critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method. This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional study design. This study uses secondary data based on medical records of patients treated in the PICU of Dr. RSUP. There is no significant relationship between malnutrition and mortality (P = 0.424, OR = 2.20), length of stay (P = 0.335, OR = 1.76), and duration of ventilator use (P = 0.085, OR = 3.17).
