GAMBARAN TINDAKAN PENCEGAHAN KARIES PADA ANAK USIA 10 TAHUN DI SD N 21 PALEMBANG BERDASARKAN TEORI HEALTH BELIEF MODEL
Background: Indonesia currently has the highest caries cases, especially in early childhood. Based on the 2018 RISKESDAS results, it was also stated that 51.9% of children aged 10 to 14 years were observed to have dental and oral problems. Caries is the result of the interaction of bacteria on the tooth surface, plaque or biofilm, and diet (with the presence of carbohydrate components which can be fermented by plaque bacteria into acids, especially lactic and acetic acids) resulting in demineralization of hard tooth tissue and takes quite a long time. Method: This descriptive observational research was carried out by collecting 100 samples and then completing the questionnaire using a hard filebased questionnaire with a total of 25 questions. The questionnaire was analyzed using a frequency analysis test. Results: perceived susceptibility has the highest frequency, namely the criterion of not being vulnerable (40%), perceived severity has the highest frequency, namely quite serious, 54%, perceived benefits has the highest frequency, namely the benefit criterion (49%), perceived barriers has the highest frequency, namely the criterion of not being hampered ( 65%), perceived self efficacy has the highest frequency, namely the capable criterion (45%), perceived cues to act has the highest frequency, namely the driven criterion (62%). Conclusion: This research shows that there is a relationship between vulnerability, seriousness, benefits, obstacles, personal abilities, and cues to action towards preventing dental caries in 10 year old children at SD N 21 Palembang
