Emotional intelligence is very important in everyday life especially in social interactions. Therefore, you must have good emotional intelligence in order to establish positive social relationships with your surroundings. This research is a quantitative research using a correlation method that aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and social interaction in class XI IPS SMA YPI Tunas Bangsa Palembang. The population in the study was 193 students with 65 students who were sampled using proportional random sampling techniques. The data collection method in this study used an emotional intelligence scale and a social interaction scale in the form of a Likert scale. The data analysis technique in this study uses pearson product moment. The results of the data analysis showed that class XI social studies students of YPI Tunas Bangsa High School had emotional intelligence and social interaction in the medium category, the value of the correlation coefficient (r xy) r was calculated at 0.382 and rtable was 0.244 from 65 responses with a significance level of 5% so that the hypothesis test r calculate > r table then H0 rejected and Ha accepted then there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and social interaction which has a weak relationship level interpretation. This means that the higher the emotional intelligence, the higher the social interaction.
