RESPON PERTUMBUHAN RIMPANG JAHE MERAH (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) PADA PERLAKUAN PERENDAMAN AIR KELAPA MUDA (Cocos nucifera L.) DARI VARIETAS YANG BERBEDA
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a type of medicinal plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. Increasing the growth of ginger rhizome can be done by using natural growth regulators. Coconut water is a source of natural growth regulators. Different coconut varieties are thought to have different compositions of biochemical compounds, including growth regulators contained in coconut water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.) of different varieties on the growth of red ginger rhizome and to determine the good coconut variety on the growth response of red ginger rhizome. This research was conducted from February to April 2023 at the Greenhouse and Physiology and Development Laboratory, Department of Biology, Sriwijaya University. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. The observed variables were the time of shoot emergence, percentage of sprouting rhizomes, number of shoots, shoot height, number of roots, root length, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight of rhizomes and dry weight of red ginger rhizomes. Data on the growth of red ginger rhizome were analyzed using analysis of variance. If the treatment had a significant effect, it would be followed by Duncan's multiple range test at level α = 0.05. Based on the research that has been done, it was found that a good response to the growth of red ginger rhizome was found in the green hybrid variety (V5) based on an average leaf area of 54.72 cm2 and the yellow early maturing variety (V3) based on an average fresh weight of 18 rhizomes. 30 gr and a dry weight of 2.34 gr rhizomes so that it can be developed as a technique to support the propagation of red ginger rhizomes
