Social media can be used by all walks of life, including college students. Many college students often use social media for a long time, causing these college students to be lazy to study. This study aims to identify what factors are closely related to social media users among FMIPA Sriwijaya University students. The data in this study is the characteristic data of FMIPA students of Sriwijaya University who use social media. The dependent variable (Y) in this study is social media and the independent variable (X) is Gender, Age, Major, GPA, Quota Usage per Month, Duration of Social Media Use per Day, and Reason for Using Social Media. This study used the CHAID method. The results of the study produced 3 significant variables, namely the first variable of Quota Use with a chi-square value of 191,184 and students using social media using the most quota of 10 – 50 GB, the second variable GPA with a chi-square value of 0.02 and the most students who use social media with a GPA of 2.00 – 3.50, finally the variable Department with a chi-square value of 0.05 and students who use social media the most in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, Biology
