Administratively, the research area is located in the area of Keban-Senabing Village.Geographically, the research area is located at UTM coordinates in zone 48S with precision coordinates of 334000 – 346000 mT and 9584000 – 9594000 mU. Coal drilling exploration activities need to be carried out using the well logging method. This study aims to identify coal seam based on log data, analyze coal quality based on moisture, total sulphur and calorific value parameters and find out the type of coal in the research area based on ASTM classification. This study used secondary data. After interpretation of coal seams, DH_CBR_04 wells with an average thickness of 7.35 m with a log gammaray response of 1.14 – 4.92 CPS and DH_CBR_05 wells with an average thickness of 4.52 m with a log gammaray response of 2.9 – 4.35 CPS. The results of coal quality analysis based on proximate analysis in DH_CBR_04 wells obtained a Moisture value of 13.04%, Total Sulphur of 0.32% and Calorific Value of 6784 Kcal/Kg and a well DH_CBR_05 Moisture value of 13.28%, Total Sulphur of 0.47% and Calorific Value of 6426 Kcal/Kg. Based on ASTM rank classification The quality of coal in the study area is in the lignite coal class with a calorific value of 6426-6784 Kcal/kg.
