PENGARUH VARIASI HOLDING TIME DENGAN MEDIA QUENCHING AIR RADIATOR TERHADAP KEKERASAN MATERIAL KUNINGAN (BRASS ROUND BAR)
The development of the industrial world, especially in the material sector, has its own problems, especially the hardness of brass material. The hardness of the brass material needs to be increased which when used continuously will experience friction which results in wear and tear. One of the ways to increase hardness is by means of heat treatment by adding holding time and cooling media. This research is an experimental research type with the aim of knowing the level of hardness of brass after heat treatment using variations in holding time and radiator water quenching media. The calculation results obtained were specimens without treatment of 89,926 Kgf/mm2, holding time for 30 minutes specimen (1) 105,013 Kgf/mm2, specimen (2) 105,916 Kgf/mm2 and specimen (3) 105,548 Kgf/mm2, holding time for 60 minutes specimen (1) 108,454 Kgf/mm2, specimen (2) 108,968 Kgf/mm2 and specimen (3) 108,999 Kgf/mm2. So, it can be seen that the holding time variation that has more influence is the holding time of 60 minutes.
