STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DISCOVERY LEARNING METHOD IN LEARNING ARTICLE WRITING TO THE 7TH SEMESTER STUDENTS OF THE ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM FACULTY OF TEACHING TRAINING AND EDUCATION IN SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY
Writing is not an easy activity to do, there are many articles or research that talked about writing with the discovery learning method but only in the school field only. Therefore, the writers decided to investigate the students’ perception of learning article writing with the discovery in the 7th semester. This study was conducted by using the mixed method, explanatory sequential. The population of this study is seventh-semester students of the English Education Study Program Faculty of Teaching Training and Education at Sriwijaya University. The data were gathered by questionnaire and interview. The result shows that the student’s perception of the implementation of discovery learning in learning is at a positive level according to the table of levels of perception, which got a mean score of 78.88. The students find that the discovery learning method certainly helps them to understand the concept and idea of the article writing course. However, there are some differences based on the interview result. Students’ initiative is still categorized as low in their participation in following the stages of the discovery learning method.
