Exposure to direct sunlight for a long time can cause damage to the epidermal tissue of the skin which is a factor in the emergence of erythema and causes skin cancer. Sunscreen is a cosmetic product that functions to protect the skin from exposure to UV rays. Breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) are reported to contain antioxidant compounds which have the potential to be active ingredients for sunscreen. This study aims to determine the effect of extract concentration on the SPF value and activity of sunscreen cream with active ingredient ethyl acetate extract of breadfruit leaves with variathy concentration. Physical evaluation of cream preparations was carried out by organoleptic test parameters, homogeneity, measurement of pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, washability, stability testing using the centrifugation method and cycling test testing for 6 cycles. The three cream formulations showed physical stability and storage. Measurement of the SPF value of the extract and cream using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer instrument with a wavelength of 290-320nm obtained results with extract values, F1, F2 and F3 respectively; 7,260, 9,906, 11,808, and 14,486. Extracts, F1, F2 and F3 are included in the SPF category with low protection. In vivo testing, the rats were divided into 5 groups as F0 was given no treatment, F1 was given 2% cream extract, F2 was given 4% cream extract, F3 was given 6% cream extract, and F+ was given commercial sunscreen. The results of the activity test showed that group F0 experienced degree 4 erythema while groups F1, F2, F3, and F+ did not experience erythema (degree 0) where it can be concluded that ethyl acetate extract of breadfruit leaves can prevent erythema and edema due to UV exposure and be used as a sunscreen. Keywords: Sunscreen, Cream, Artocarpus altilis extract, UV, Flavonoids, SPF, Erythema Edema
