THE PPROBLEMS FACED BY PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS IN DESIGNING LESSON PLAN DURING MICRO-TEACHING CLASSES
To be a professional teacher, a pre-service teacher must be able to create lesson plans, while micro-teaching is one of the the platforms used by pre-service teachers to describe actual classes. However, there are still many pre-service teachers who have difficulty in designing lesson plan during micro-teaching. This study aimed to explore the problems that pre-service teachers faced in designing lesson plan during micro-teaching classes and the strategies they used to overcome these problems. The researcher used qualitative research and selected 7th semester students majoring English Education at University of Sriwijaya as participants using convenience sampling method. Data was collected in this study in the form of lesson plans designed by pre-service teachers and interviews. The results of the data collection show that the pre-service teachers faced some problems including adjusting time allocation, determining learning methods, formulating basic competencies, choosing teaching materials, and formulating assessment. Although the strategies they used to overcome these problems include: looking for references in various sources, asking other people, reading and checking the lesson plan that has been designed.
