SINTESIS KOMPOSIT BENTONIT POLYDOPAMINE TERIMPREGNASI CuO UNTUK FOTODEGRADASI KATALITIK ZAT WARNA METILEN BIRU
Synthesis of Bentonite-Polydopamine Composite with CuO Semiconductor as Catalytic Photodegradation of Methylene Blue Dye has been conducted. The resulting bentonite-polydopamine CuO composite, was characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX, and UV-Vis DRS. The methylene blue photodegradation was carried out at several variabels, including the initial of concentration, contact time, and photocatalyst weight. XRD characterization of the bentonite-polydopamine CuO composite showed the formation of a typical peak at 2θ angle of 35.5291o. The band gap energy value of the bentonite-polydopamine CuO from UV-Vis DRS characterization was 2.10 eV. SEM-EDS characterization showed the constituent elements were C (37.65%), O (28.65%), Al (8.34%), Si (16.45%), K (0.03%), Ti (0.29%), Fe (1.19%), and Cu (7.74%). The best conditions for photodegradation were obtained at an initial dye concentration of 20 ppm, contact time of 150 minutes, and a composite mass of 40 mg with degradation efficiencies 99.14%. The research results showed that the bentonite-polydopamine CuO composite was able to degrade methylene blue. The TOC analysis indicates that the carbon content in methylene blue dye is 28,02%. The research findings show that the bentonite-polydopamine-CuO composite is capable of degrading methylene blue methylene blue dye is 28,02%.
