KONSTRUKSI SOSIAL MASYARAKAT TERHADAP ANAK PENYANDANG DISABILITAS DI KECAMATAN SEKAYU KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN
This thesis entitled "Social Construction of Society Towards Children with Disabilities in Sekayu Subdistrict, Musi Banyuasin Regency." The problem in this research discusses how society understands children with disabilities and how the social construction process of society towards children with disabilities occurs. The aim of this research is to understand and determine the community's perspective on children with disabilities and the social construction process of society towards children with disabilities in Sekayu Subdistrict, Musi Banyuasin Regency. The research method used is qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through observation, structured and semi-structured interviews with 11 informants, and documentation. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using Peter L. Berger's theory of the social construction of reality. The results of this research indicate that there are two perspectives of society towards children with disabilities: a perspective based on knowledge about children with disabilities and the attitudes and behaviors of society towards children with disabilities in Sekayu Subdistrict, Musi Banyuasin Regency. Then, there are three social construction processes of society towards children with disabilities analyzed using three dialectics of the social construction of reality: Self-adjustment (Externalization), Interaction and institutionalization (Objectivation), Self-identification (Internalization).
