Traditional markets have existed since ancient times and have managed toendure to this day. However, the existence of traditional markets will begin todecline if they exhibit various weaknesses, ranging from design factors, spatiallayout, location, and appearance that are not asappealing as moderm shoppingcenters. They are often associated with conditions that are congested, muddy,dirty, and smelly. The role of the government in maintaining the existence oftraditional markets is through revitalization. Traditional markets will regain theattention of consumers if the negative image that has been associated with themfor a long time is eliminated. This research uses qualitative research methods,meaning that the data obtained includes interview transcripts, researcherdocuments, field notes, researcher notes, and other supporting official documents.Alang-alang Lebar Market, as a traditignal market built in 2004, underwentmarket revitalization in 2016 to support the socio-economic well-being of tradersby improving the market's function as a traditional trading venue, making it safe.comfortable, clean, well-organized, and more aesthetically pleasing (eliminatingthe image of being rundown).
