PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN BAHAN PENGISI SILICON CARBIDE (SiC) TERHADAP KEKUATAN TEMBUS CORN OIL SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF MINYAK TRANSFORMATOR.
This report a study of the potential use of corn oil as an alternative to mineral oil by improving its insulation performance under AC voltage by adding SiC fillers. The experiment was performed to get the breakdown voltage (V_{bd}) value of the Corn Oil with SiC addition at concentrations of 0; 0.25; 0.5; 0.75; and 1 wt%. In this experiment, Shell Diala B is used as a comparison to mineral insulating oil. A high-voltage AC with a rise time voltage of 100 V/s was used to test the sample, which was placed into a test cell with a 13-mm-diameter sphere electrode system and a 1-mm gap between the two electrodes. The test results obtained for each concentration were 4,494; 5,375; 5,926; 4,919; 4,103 kV; and 5,605 kV for Shell Diala B oil samples. These results show that the addition of SiC fillers can improve the ability of Corn Oil to withstand voltage stress up to a concentration of 0.5 wt.% due to increased thermal properties and reduced electrical conductivity. However, when added at concentrations above that, Corn Oil tends to decrease breakdown voltage due to the increase in the electrical conductivity value. Then compared with the Diala B sample, the Corn Oil sample with the addition of a concentration of 0.5 wt% gets a higher breakdown voltage value, making it potentially suitable for use as an alternative oil substitute for the mineral transformator.
