The use of concrete for the building in the world, especially Indonesia, in the last few decades has been growing rapidly. Concrete was chosen because of its high compressive strength. However, the use of conventional concrete affects the self-weight of the building itself, primarily contributed by the coarse aggregate material for 45%-60% of the weight of concrete. This study aims to address one of the issues to reduce weight of the building by replacing the coarse aggregate with artificial aggregate made from fly ash, a waste product of coal combustion, and an epoxy resin liquid, both of which have a lighter specific gravity. This research has artificial aggregates design with the target of strength f'c = 20 MPa using the Job-mix Formula provided by SNI. Two types of samples were produced in mixed design in the form of cylindrical specimens measuring 15x30 cm : Normal Weight Concrete (BN) Design and Lightweight Concrete (BR) Design. The samples of BN were tested for Compressive Strength of Concrete for 28 days and the samples of BR were tested for Compressive Strength of Concrete for 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. The results can be obtained from this study including sample weight, sample density, and the KTB values for each sample. The testing of the lightweight concrete samples (BR) showed the average compressive strength of 20.35 MPa. Meanwhile, the testing of the normal weight concrete samples (BN) showed the average compressive strength of 20.26 MPa. Therefore, it can be concluded that artificial aggregate can replace coarse aggregate as materials of concrete resulting in the compressive strength of normal concrete with the weight of artificial aggregate 40% lower than coarse aggregate.
