This study aims to determine the impact of the use of social media on the cognitive and psychomotor development of children in the Talang Kelapa Village, Palembang City. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research types, data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. There were eight research subjects consisting of five children and three parents. The results of this study are that the use of social media has an impact on aspects of children's cognitive and psychomotor development. The use of social media on children's cognitive development with indicators of logical thinking, systematic thinking and adaptation, namely social media has a bad influence on children's intellectual intelligence where social media can make children's level of interest in learning decrease, the speed of logical thinking is also reduced, complacent with responsibility, and changing habits in a negative direction such as lying to parents. Whereas in the psychomotor aspects of children, the impact is from Imitation that children dare to imitate bad behavior from the content they watch. Furthermore, manipulation, namely the child becomes braver to see the display on the cellphone so that he opens certain social media sites which causes him to be smarter in using cellphones and social media. Finally, articulation, where children are more likely to receive reprimands from their parents, like to argue and speak harshly to their parents. So the impact that occurs when children use social media refers to a negative direction, therefore the use of social media must be monitored by parents and society. Keywords: social media, cognitive, psychomotor.
