The purpose of this study to describe how public diplomacy is carried out by Australia and Indonesia in establishing bilateral relations through a youth exchange program known as the Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP). This program is one of the programs that aims to people to people contact by placing youth in two-way communication in order to strengthen bilateral relations as well as create mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia. AIYEP is a program agreed upon by DFAT and the Ministry of Youth and Sports since 1982 until now. The AIYEP program is known as domestic activities where delegations from each country will visit the destination country directly in carrying out activities, the implementation of AIYEP in 2021-2022 at that time coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic which made the program implemented online for the first time. Descriptive descriptive method was used in this study, as well as for primary and secondary data sources in this study were collected through interview data collection methods with the practitioners involved. This study uses the theory of Public Diplomacy which has the objectives of Promotion, Communication, Mutual Trust. The results of this study indicate that Australia and Indonesia carry out Promotion, Communication and Mutual Trust activities through AIYEP 2021-2022 in various series of activities such as Counterparts Activities, Internship activities, virtual tours, webinars, social impact project, and mentoring sections.
