BANTUAN LUAR NEGERI JEPANG DI INDONESIA: STUDI KASUS PESANTREN DI SUMATERA SELATAN
(Official Development Assitance) ODA is one of Japan's foreign policy instruments in order to provide foreign aid aimed at economic development in developing countries with low economic levels, one of which is Indonesia. There are many sectors and programs in this project, one of which is in the education sector. The main focus in the education sector is to accelerate the development of facilities and the provision of equipment and materials in the higher education sector, the improvement of PUSDIKLAT in the regions, and educational assistance. This thesis analyzes Japanese foreign aid in Indonesia by taking a case study of Pesantren Al-Ittifaqiah in Indralaya, South Sumatra. There are several interesting reasons to analyze Japanese foreign aid to Pesantren in South Sumatra considering that Japan is not an Islamic country. The purpose of this research is to find out what are the reasons and underlying interests of Japan in providing Foreign Aid to Islamic Boarding Schools in South Sumatra. Researchers used Development Cooperation Theory and Foreign Aid Theory as an analytical knife to answer research questions and elaborate the discussion in this study. This research is qualitative, and data sources and retrieval are obtained through interviews and literature studies. The results showed that Japan's interest in providing Foreign Aid to Islamic Boarding Schools in South Sumatra is an effort by Japan to achieve its national interests and as an effort to realize Indonesia's economic and social development, improve friendly relations between the two countries, and strengthen economic relations with Indonesia.
