PERILAKU MEROKOK PEREMPUAN BERHIJAB DI KECAMATAN KERTAPATI KOTA PALEMBANG
Some people consider that smoking behavior in women is a common sight to be found until now, but it is different if smoking behavior is carried out by women who wear hijab because it is considered contrary to the values of their religious teachings. Society tends to judge this behavior as negative behavior, therefore to find out in depth about this phenomenon the researcher elaborates smoking behavior on women wearing the hijab using Pierre Bourdieu's Practice Theory, through dialectics of habitus, capital, and arena to answer each aspect studied. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method, taking informants using a purposive technique. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation. According to research, habitus is defined as the tendency to smoke based on social and psychological factors, including environmental influences, self-motivation and long-standing habits. Smoking behavior also manifests in social capital in the form of friendship networks and the social environment, cultural capital in the form of knowledge about smoking behavior in women, symbolic capital that creates a symbol to become an acceptable smoker in their environment and economic capital as capital obtained through parental funds to income from work. As a result of the existence of a dialectic regarding this phenomenon, the use of practice theory in the context of women and smoking behavior is a new perspective that can examine more deeply the relationship between phenomena and behavior in women who wear the hijab in smoking. Keywords: Cigarettes, Women, Hijab
