Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic diseases that occurs in many communities and cannot be cured. Chronic diseases are major contributors that can affect the emotional instability and physical condition of people with diabetes mellitus because of the possibility of serious complications and diabetes management therapy that must be carried out throughout their lives. Stress has a negative impact on physical, psychological, social and spiritual and affects the adherence to the management of diabetes management therapy so that it will affect blood sugar levels and quality of life of people with diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between stress levels with blood sugar levels and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Palembang Social Health Center Working Area. This type of research is a correlational analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling techniques and the number of samples was 44 respondents. Data were collected using instruments in the form of DASS-42 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) Questionnaire and WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life) Questionnaire. The analysis test in this study used the spearman test. The results of the study found a significant relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with p-value = 0.000 and there was a significant relationship between stress levels and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with p-value = 0.000. Based on the results of this study, stress can cause an increase in blood sugar levels and decreased quality of life in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus so that health workers can provide information on how to manage stress in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus through health promotion.
