PERAN WORLD WIDE FUND FOR NATURE (WWF) DALAM MENANGGULANGI ANCAMAN KEPUNAHAN KOALA DI AUSTRALIA
Until the end of 2021, it is estimated that more than 16,000 species of flora and fauna are threatened with extinction, many of which are caused by industrialization. Australia is a continent rich in endangered species, which has been in the spotlight lately due to the massive forest fires that have occurred in several states. Koala is one of the endangered species due to the phenomenon of environmental degradation. Responding to this, WWF is present as a non-governmental actor that is intensely pursuing strategies to save these species. This research focuses on how the role played by WWF as one of the NGOs in the world, especially in terms of protecting koalas which are threatened with extinction due to declining environmental and habitat conditions in Australia. This research was carried out using qualitative research methods, with descriptive interpretation and data analysis. The results of this study describe that WWF has carried out its role in accordance with David Lewis' view where an NGO actually carries out 3 main functions as implementers, catalysts, and partners marked by the strategy and advocacy carried out by WWF to protect and save koalas from the phenomenon of environmental degradation and habitat destruction.
