In common brass metal the zinc content is 15-37%, brass is commonly used as a substitute for copper as pipe fittings, nuts, musical instruments and shell bullets, connecting rods for pistons and shafts. Efforts to reduce the level of deformation and increase the level of ductility of brass metal is by giving it a heat tempering treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature on the tempering process on the level of ductility in Brass Metal. This study uses a type of experiment. The specimen is in the form of a round bar with a length of 55 mm and a diameter of 17 mm. The specimens were heat treated with temperature variations of 800˚ and 750˚C with room temperature cooling media and then tested for deformation pressure using a Vickers test kit with a load of 30 kgf. For specimens that were not treated, the compressive deformation had a value of 115.09 N/〖"mm" 〗^"2" The highest deformation reduction was found in specimens tempering at 750˚C with compressive deformation of 95.68 N/〖"mm" 〗^"2" and an increase in ductility of 19.81% , then the specimen is tempered at 800˚ with a deformation reduction of 97. N/〖"mm" 〗^"2" with an increase in ductility of 17.45%.
