This study aims to determine the strategies of PPKn teachers in building student learning activeness in Civics learning at SMP Negeri 21 Palembang. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study type of research, the sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique with 5 informants and used data collection techniques, namely documentation, interviews, and observation. The social situation of this research was SMP Negeri 21 Palembang as (place), Civics teachers and students IX.7 as (actors) and Civics learning activities as (activities) studied. The results showed that the PPKn teacher's strategy in building student learning activeness was to use varied learning by modifying learning strategies using interesting learning models, learning methods and learning media so that they could build student learning activeness in Civics learning at SMP Negeri 21 Palembang.
