PEMODELAN GEOMEKANIKA UNTUK PENENTUAN ZONA LEMAH MENGGUNAKAN GEOLOGICAL STRENGTH INDEX DAN UNCONFINED COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH DI PT. BUKIT ASAM, MUARA ENIM, SUMATERA SELATAN.
The mining process in Bangko Tengah entered the initial staging of production processing. However, on the low wall of the excavation, there is still coal that has yet to be produced due to the influence of landslide material on it and limited land for excavation. Therefore, studies on geomechanical models are required to find low-wall weak-layer areas. Material properties that are the focus of data collection are the characteristics of clay material from avalanches that partially cover the repositioning of the low wall. Slope stability analysis was carried out on the mine slope design of the 2022 Company Working Plan and Budget (RKAP) on the pit model using the limit equilibrium method with simplified Bishop and the probability of Monte Carlo trials with 200 simulations. The Geological Strength Index (GSI) study supports the optimisation analysis and indicates that Pit D in the Muara Enim Formation (Tmpm) has coal, sandstone, clay, and siltstone lithology. Geotechnical observations revealed GSI conditions worth 55 (fair). Laboratory tests with probabilistic geostatistics present test parameter values in weak layer materials in the form of moisture content (ω) 24.33, cohesion (C) 37.11, unit weight (γ) ω2.68, deep shear angle (φ) 15.73, permeability (K) 2.72x10-7, void ratio (e) 1.19 and porosity (n) 54.27. The results of the analysis of slope stability on one cross-section of the five cross-sections carried out by optimising slope geometry engineering obtained the optimal design value of the slope geometry by forming 7-8 benches, a berm width of 10-20 meters and a slope ratio of 1:4 with a probability of failure (PoF) ranging from 9.6% to 16.3%. The results of the analysis of clay activity with the parameter of plasticity index to the ratio of normal water content show the distribution of claystone activity numbers, and there are two types of normal clays (illite) and active clays (montmorillonite).
