Performance based seismic design used to resolve risk of building damage caused by earthquake. In this study, analysis method based on performance based seismic design is pushover analysis was conducted following ATC 40 guide lines. This study used 10 storey steel building with each floor height of 4 m and the size of the building is 18 m x 18 m were made in five different types of structure models based on the various types of bracing and bracing configuration. Bracing type that we use in this study are diagonal braced and chevron braced. The results of this study indicate that the performance level of five models structure for earthquakes in x direction and earthquakes in y direction according to ATC 40chapter 11.3.3 is IO (Immediate Occupancy). Model 4 has the best effective ness in terms of plastic hinge mechanism compared with the other models. Model 4 in the last step of plastic hinge is able to reduce plastic hinge 84% from model 1 for earthquake in x direction and 79% from model 1 for earthquake in y direction so the plastic hinge on the beam does not occur. Model 3 has the greatest ability to with stand the forces of an earthquake compared with the other models that are185% bigger than model 1 for x direction and 181% bigger than model 1 for y direction. Model 3 has the greatest effectiveness in reducing lateral displacements compared with other models in the amount of 65.474% of model 1 for x direction and 72,14% of model 1 for y direction. Model 3 has the greatest effectiveness in reducing storey drift compared to other models that is equal to 73,887% of the model 1 for x direction and 80,55% of the model 1 for y direction. Model 3 has the greatest effectiveness in reducing the ratio of storey drift compared to other models that is equal to 74,588% of model 1 for x direction and 82,348% of model 1 for y direction.
