This study aims to describe students' mathematical problem-solving skill after the strategy of simplifying similar problems has been applied. This research is descriptive research. The subject of this research was students of class VIII 3 of SMP Negeri 1 Muara Telang, which consisted of 34 students. There are three stages in this research, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the data analysis stage. In the preparatory stage, instruments in the form of RPP, LKPD, Problem Solving Test Questions and Assessment Rubrics have been prepared which have been validated by the validator and are suitable for use with the suggestions given. Data collection was carried out through a written test consisting of 2 problem solving questions. The test results were then analyzed according to the four stages of solving Polya's problem. Based on the results of the study, overall students' problem solving skill were in the good category with an average of 80.79. As for as many as 35.48% of students in the very good category and 64.52% of students in the good category. As for the emergence of problem solving indicators, there are three indicators that are the highest, namely indicators of understanding the problem, making plans and carrying out plans by 100%. But, for the indicator checking again only 3.23% for question number 1 and 29.03% for question number 2.
