This research relates to the government's discourse in efforts to move the National Capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. This event attracted the attention of the Indonesian people because it was on a national scale. This brought this issue to the attention of online news portals Kompas.com and Tempo.co. The purpose of this research is to see in a framing way how the news about the transfer of the National Capital City is packaged by the media. This research uses the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis model with its structure, namely Syntax, Script, Thematic and Rhetorical. This study uses the political economy theory of media from Vincent Mosco with three concepts namely commodification, spatialization and structuring. The data for this research were collected from news stories related to the relocation of the National Capital on Kompas.com and Tempo.co for the period 1-31 January 2022. The results of this research show that the framing that appears on the news portals Kompas.com and Tempo.co has differences in packaging and viewpoints influenced by the political economy of each media.
