This research is entitled "DISASTER JOURNALISM IN THE REPORTING OF THE SEMERU MOUNTAIN ERUPTION ON ONLINE MEDIA TIRTO.ID PERIOD 4-31 DECEMBER 2021". Disaster journalism in this study is intended as the principles of disaster journalism used by Tirto.id. There are two dimensions in disaster journalism, namely the process dimension and the outcome dimension. In this study, it focuses on the outcome dimension, namely the news of the eruption of Mount Semeru for the period December 4-31, 2021. There are four principles that must be used by the media in covering disasters: the principle of accuracy, the humanist principle, especially the principle of the voice of the victim, the principle of commitment to rehabilitation, and the principle of control and advocacy. Using the content analysis method, the results of this study show that the principle of disaster journalism applied by Tirto.id is the principle of accuracy only. Namely 41% for the coverage team indicator, 46% for the cover both sides indicator, and 97% for the opinion and fact mixing indicator. Disaster news is still considered the same as other news. From all the research that has been done. Tirto.id should also pay attention to the four principles of disaster journalism. namely the principle of accuracy, the principle of humanism, the principle of rehabilitation, as well as the principle of control and advocacy so that the community is able to move forward and rise up to forget the disaster tragedy. It is also hoped that journalists will never stop learning to continue to enrich their insights, develop their skills in covering disasters.
