PERBANDINGAN TINGKAT KECENDERUNGAN PENGGUNA INSTAGRAM DAN TIKTOK PADA MAHASISWA ILMU KOMUNIKASI 2018 JELANG PEMILU 2024
Social media is a place that allows users to socialize and interact with fellow users or just looking for entertainment. But now, social media has become a tool fulfill information needs for its users. This research aims to analyze the comparison, in this case is Instagram and TikTok usage by Communication Students UNSRI 2018 for the 2024 election. This Research using information needs theory that proposed by Kaltz, Gurevitch and Haas. The sample was determined using Simple Random Sampling Technique with the number of samples are 78 respondents. Data in this research collected using quantitative descriptive analysis technique and tested the hypothesis using the Mann-Whitney method. Based on quantitative descriptive analysis techniques, it shows that the fulfillment of information needs on both social media achieves a "very effective" category with an achievement percentage 83%. Meanwhile, the results of the Mann-Whitney method show that the probability value is more than 0.05, it can be said that there is no significant difference in trend between the two social media, namely Instagram and TikTok.
