Based on UNICEF data, in 2021 more than 200 million girls or women in 30 countries across the world are practicing FGM. Indonesia is in 3rd position with the number of FGM cases after Egypt and Ethiopia. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is an act of cutting part or all of the external genitalia of girls and women based on tradition, culture, religion or other things that are not important for health and healing. United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is an international organization that aims to improve the welfare of children in the world. UNICEF is participating in eradicating FGM in Indonesia. Purpose: To provide information and understanding about the role of UNICEF in eradicating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in girls in Indonesia. Result: UNICEF has carried out its role as an international organization, namely as an instrument that is used as a tool in achieving the goal of eradicating FGM practices in Indonesia. UNICEF as an arena is a forum created by UNICEF to discuss FGM issues in Indonesia. UNICEF as an actor is working with the Indonesian government and other leaders in reducing the prevalence of FGM and eradicating the practice of FGM in Indonesia. Result: UNICEF took action to make a decision to create a program that seeks to eradicate the practice of FGM in Indonesia. The program carried out by UNICEF as an approach to promoting reproductive health and as eradicating the practice of FGM is a child protection program, providing adequate allocations for the BERANI program in Indonesia in the form of grants, and other assistance. Suggestion: The Indonesian government must be more responsive to eradicating the practice of FGM on girls in Indonesia because the BERANI program in Indonesia still makes the prevalence of FGM cases on girls in Indonesia high.
