VARIASI ALOMETRI DAN DIMORFISME SEKSUAL KEPITING AIR TAWAR (GENUS: PARATHELPHUSA) SERTA SUMBANGANNYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA
This study aims to determine allometric variation and sexual dimorphism of freshwater crabs (Genus: Parathelphusa) from Palembang, Jambi and Lampung waters based on morphometric characters. Samples were collected for all arrests randomly using the handpicking technique/picking directly using the hands assisted with a tool in the form of a shovel. Analysis of allometric variation and sexual dimorphism using several morphometric characters converted into linear equations. The results showed that there were variations in the growth patterns of each morphometric character of both male and female freshwater crab species. Allometric variations measured were three main parts of freshwater crabs including the carapace, abdomen and cheliped. The growth pattern on the carapace shows that male crabs in the P. maindroni species have larger carapace than female crabs. Furthermore, the abdomen shows that male crabs in the P. mainndroni species have larger abdomens than female crabs. In the cheliped section, the growth pattern shows that male crabs in the P. maindroni species have bigger and fuller cheliped compared to females. Whereas in the species P. convexa the allometric variations measured were three main parts of freshwater crabs including the carapace, abdomen and cheliped. The growth pattern on the carapace shows that female crabs have larger carapace than male crabs. Furthermore, the abdomen shows that female crabs have a larger abdomen than male crabs. In the cheliped section, the growth pattern shows that male crabs have larger and fuller chelipeds than female crabs. Sexual dimorphism in P. maindroni species can be distinguished through five morphometric characters including carapace width, frontal width, sternal length, sternal width and carpus length. Whereas in P. convexa it can be distinguished by the characters of carapace width, carapace length and frontal width. Keywords: Allometric variation, Sexual dimorphism, Parathelphusa maindroni, Parathelphusa convexa
