PENGARUH KONSENTRASI TEMULAWAK TERHADAP BOBOT MUTLAK, PERSENTASE BOBOT RELATIF USUS HALUS DAN JUMLAH BAKTERI ASAM LAKTAT PADA SEKUM AYAM BROILER.
Broiler chicken is a livestock commodity that can be a source of animal protein for humans. Temulawak contains active substances such as curcumin which is composed of a chemical structure having hydroxyl groups that are easily oxidized and can donate hydrogen to free radicals which lack hydrogen and electrons in their outer orbitals. This study aims to determine the effect of temulawak extract on absolute weight, percentage of small intestine relative weight and lactate acid bacteria total on broiler chicken cecum. This research was carried out for 35 days from 15 August 2022 to 18 September 2022 in the experimental animal farm laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and cecum samples were analyzed at the Agricultural Engineering Laboratory, Sriwijaya University. This study used 80 Lohmann MB-202 broiler chickens obtained from PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were P0 (Control), P1 (0.5% temulawak extract/ kg chicken body weight), P2 (1% temulawak extract/ kg chicken body weight) and P3 (1.5% temulawak extract/ kg chicken body weight). The observed parameters were absolute weight, percentage of small intestine relative weight and lactate acid bacteria total on broiler chicken cecum. The results showed that absolute weight ranged from 1253.2 – 1516 g/head, the percentage of small intestine relative weight ranged from 5.91 – 6.27% and the average lactate acid bacteria total on broiler chicken cecum ranged from 1.56 – 4.67 Cfu/ml. The results of this study showed that the administration of temulawak extract had no significant effect (P>0.05) on absolute weight, percentage of small intestine relative weight and the lactate acid bacteria total. The administration of temulawak extract up to a dose of 1.5%/ kg of chicken body weight has not been able to increase the absolute weight, percentage of small intestine relative weight and lactate acid bacteria total on broiler chicken cecum. Keywords: Absolute weight, Broiler chickens, Lactate acid bacteria total, Percentage of small intestine relative weight and Temulawak extract.
