This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning ability in solving AKM numeracy questions on social arithmetic material for class VIII SMP. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 53 Palembang with research subjects namely class VIII.8 consisting of 32 students. Data were collected through written test and interviews, then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average value of students' mathematical reasoning ability was 51,01 in a quite good category, with the mathematical manipulation indicator appears the most with a percentage of 65% while the indicator checking the validity of an argument appears the most rarely with a percentage of 12,5%
