This research aims to determine the best PEG 6000 priming treatment to increase germination of expired curly red chili seeds. This research was carried out at the Laboratory of Seed Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Ogan Ilir Regency in July 2023. The research used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments consisting of 3 repeats, where each repeat had 2 trays, each tray consisting of 25 seeds. The treatment consists of soaking with PEG 6000 solution of 15% concentration, 20% concentration, 25% concentration, 30% concentration, and 35% concentration, soaked for 24 hours. The parameters observed included germination percentage, uniform growth percentage, germination rate, plumula length, radicule length, sprout fresh weight, sprout dry weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and vigor index. The data obtained were analyzed using a variace test and 5% DMRT test. The research showed that priming red chili seeds curly wire varieties that had expired using PEG 6000 had a significant effect on the dry weight parameter of the header but did not have a real effect on other parameters. Priming treatment of expired wire variety curly red chili seeds using PEG 6000 15% is a treatment that provides the best results on the parameters of germination percentage, germination rate, sprout fresh weight, sprout dry weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and vigor index. While the priming treatment of curly red chili seeds of expired wire varieties using PEG 6000 20% is a treatment that provides the best results on the parameters of uniform growth percentage, plumula length and radicula length.
