This study aims to obtain the proper spacing for the growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.) in rubber polyculture. This research was carried out at the Rubber Research Station (3ᵒ14’02ᵒS 104ᵒ38’12ᵒE), Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Utara District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra from December 2022 to March 2023. The research was carried out using a Randomized Block Design (RBD). This factors were spacing consisting of 5 treatment levels with 4 replications. Variety of corn was Betras 9. Treatment consist of 75 cm x 20 cm (P1), 75 cm x 25 cm (P2), 75 cm x 30 cm (P3), 75 cm x 35 cm (P4), 75 cm x 40 cm (P5). The observation results were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with a 5% Test Least Significant Differences. Parameters observed light intensity, soil pH, height of corn plant, diameter of corn plant, greenness of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight of stalks, length of cobs, diameter of cobs, weight of cobs, weight of seeds per ear, weight of 100 seeds, weight latex, and rubber plant stem circumference. Sunlight in open space showed an average result of 365 K.lux, while on space under the shade of rubber crop an average result of 232 K.lux. This research space as a polyculture had a sunlight intensity of around 63%. Soil pH still relatively low only 4.78. Spacing 75 cm x 40 cm gave the best results for the growth of stem diameter, leaf greenness, fresh and dry weight of stalks, cob diameter and cob seed weight. Cultivating corn in rubber crop polyculture had a good effect on the fresh weight of latex and the addition of rubber plant stem circumference. The grow of corn plants under rubber plantations was not optimal for vegetative and generative growth of plants and a longer flowering period.
