THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COMMUNICATION ON INSTAGRAM @KOMINFOPALEMBANG IN FULFILLING THE INFORMATION NEEDS OF PALEMBANG CITY SOCIETY By Indah Kurniasari 09031381924120 ABSTRACT The Instagram account @kominfopalembang provides government information about the coverage of Palembang city. The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of the communication effectiveness of @kominfopalembang Instagram account on fulfilling the information needs of Palembang city residents. The theories used in this research consist of communication effectiveness theory and information needs theory. The research method used in this study is quantitative, where data collection is done by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents determined using the Slovin Formula. The data obtained were analyzed using SmartPLS software, which consisted of two parts, the outer model that includes testing for convergent validity, discriminant validity, composite reliability and the inner model that includes testing for r-square and path coefficient. The study obtained a t-statistic value for the communication effectiveness of 44.618 and a p-value of 0.000. The results indicate that the communication effectiveness variable of the Instagram account @kominfopalembang has a significant influence on fulfilling the information needs of Palembang city residents, and the descriptive analysis shows that the level of effectiveness of the Instagram account @kominfopalembang falls under the "effective" category with a total score of 76.07%.
