KUB chicken is a free-range chicken as a result of research by the Indonesian Research Institute for Animal Husbandry at the Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, which was obtained from crosses selecting female lines. KUB chickens have high egg production so they can be directed to increase their egg production. Turmeric and black pepper can be used as feed additives . Addition of additive feed have function to improve the quality of meat and eggs. This study aims to determine the effect of giving turmeric flour and black pepper capsules on the external quality of KUB chicken eggs. This research was conducted from 1 July to 29 September 2022 and took place in the Poultry Experimental Cage of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used 50 KUB chickens with 5 treatments, consisting of 10 chickens for each treatment. The treatment consists of P0 = (Control), P1 = Basal ration with Turmeric Flour ( 0.4 g/head/ day) P2 = Feeding with Turmeric Flour (0.4 g/head/day) and 1 Black Pepper Capsule (0.2g/head/day) P3 = Feeding with Turmeric Flour (0.4 g/head/day) and 2 black pepper capsules (0.4 g/head/day) P4 = feeding with turmeric flour (0.4 g/head/day) and 3 black pepper capsules (0.6 g /head/day). This research uses a descriptive method. Variables observed included egg weight, egg index, weight and shell thickness . The results showed that egg weight ranged from 44.8-51.3 g, egg index 74.13-77.75%, shell weight 4.67-5.24 g, shell thickness 0.46-0.50 mm. Treatment P2 had the highest score on index, eggshell weight and thickness when compared to other treatments, egg weight had the highest score on P3. The conclusion of this study is that the P3 treatment provides the best dose in improving the external quality of eggs in terms of its benefits.
