Climbing perch can be cultivated and able to respond of the artificial feed. The use of certain plant ingredients such as soybeans, corn, cassava, and bran as fish feed ingredients has the disadvantage of containing phytic acid. Phytic acid is difficult to digest by fish because of the lack of phytase in the gastrointestinal tract Therefore, it is necessary to add phytase to hydrolyze the phytic acid. This study aims to determine the best percentage of phytase addition in plant ingredients containing phytic acid (soybean meal, corn meal, cassava flour, and bran) to maximize the growth and feed efficiency of climbing perch. This study was conducted at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University on MarchMay 2023. This study used a completely randomized design with six treatments and three replications. The treatments given was the different percentages of phytase addition in plant ingredients containing phytic acid (soybean meal, corn meal, cassava flour and bran) as feed ingredients for climbing perch, namely: without addition of phytase (P0), phytase 0.02% (P1), phytase 0.03% (P2), phytase 0.04% (P3), phytase 0.05% (P4), and phytase 0.06% (P5). The results of this study showed that phytase 0.04% (P3) was the best treatment with absolute length and weight growth of 0.56 cm and 1.03 g, respectively, protein efficiency ratio of 0.61, feed efficiency of 19.70%, and survival rate 100%. Water quality during the culture period were temperature 26.3-30.4ºC, pH 6.17-7.10, dissolved oxygen 3.61-4.46 mg L-1, and ammonia 0.015-0.091 mg L-1. Key words: climbing perch, growth, phytase, phytic acid, plant ingredients
