PENGARUH SUHU PENYIMPANAN TERHADAP PERKEMBANGAN PENYAKIT PADA BUAH JERUK LEMON (Citrus limon L.)
The citrus plant is the most important fruit in the world. Citrus fruit is ranked first in the international fruit market. Indonesia is the second largest orange importing country in ASEAN. Orange is one of the horticultural commodities that serves as a source of nutrition, source of income, and a source of foreign exchange. Global competition increases sales of oranges and the survival of the citrus industry depends on the availability of genetically sound cultivars. Orange is a fruit that is widely known by the public because it has a fresh taste and is easy to get. Lemon fruit can thrive in wet climates with high rainfall, the plant is a seasonal tree species that only bears fruit once a year. Unfavorable storage temperature can cause the growth of postharvest diseases. The purpose of this research was to obtain a good storage temperature for lemons to minimize yield losses due to postharvest diseases during storage. In this research the design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of four treatments and six replications. The total fruit used is 24 lemons. The results obtained that the cause of disease in lemons is the fungus Colletotricum gloesporioides. Storage temperature of 2- 6°C is proven to suppress disease attack on papaya fruit in storage. The lower the storage temperature, the less likely it is to be attacked by postharvest diseases.
