AKTIVITAS LARVASIDA JAMUR ENTOMOPATOGEN YANG DIINOKULASIKAN KE BENIH TERHADAP Spodoptera frugiperda DAN PENGARUHNYA PADA PERTUMBUHAN JAGUNG
Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) is an invasive pest that causes serious damage to maize plants. Pest control with entomopathogenic endophytic fungi has been widely used in several countries. The nature of S. frugiperda larvae, which attack many growing points on parts of plants that are difficult to reach, makes the use of endophytic fungi very effective in controlling them. Endophytic fungi can form a mutualism with their host plants. Thus, it is necessary to conduct research on the effect of inoculation of entomopathogenic fungi on the mortality of S. frugiperda larvae and their effect on the growth of maize seedlings. This research was conducted in two stages, namely agronomic tests and biological tests, with eight treatments of fungal isolates (TaAIPA, LtKrLH, TaLmME, TaPsBA, MSwTp1, BkBTp, BSwTd4, MSwTp3) and one control, repeated three times. Agronomic tests were carried out by inoculating the fungus on corn seeds using a randomized block design (RBD), and biological tests were carried out using a completely randomized design (CRD). The variables observed in this study were germination rate, plant height, leaf length and width, number of leaves, root morphology, root length, fresh and dry weight, mortality, leaf area eaten, larvae weight, excrement weight, proportion of larvae to pupae, and the image that appears. Inoculation of entomopathogenic fungi on corn seed showed that Beauveria bassiana isolate BSwTd4 and Metarhizium anisopliae isolate MSwTp3 were able to stimulate the growth of corn seedlings, with an average plant height after 14 DAP of 29.95 cm and 27.87 cm. Meanwhile, the highest mortality proportion was found in isolate BSwTd4, which was 68%, and the lowest proportion was found in isolate MSwTp1, which was 32%. The highest percentage of larvae that failed to become pupae were found in BSwTd4 and TaLmME isolates, namely 73.33% and 72.00%. Injured insects can reduce their ability to become adults. The highest percentage of adult failing to appear was found in BKbTp isolates, namely 96%. Most adults derived from infected larvae disrupt reproduction and reduce fecundity, preventing the imagos from producing eggs. Inoculation of endophytic fungi that act as entomopathogens and cause the most mortality of S. frugiperda larvae was found in the fungus B. bassiana with the isolate code BSwTd4, reaching 68% and not significantly different in each treatment (TaAIPA, LtKrLH, TaLmME, TaPsBA, MSwTp1, BkBTp, and MSwTp3). Endophytic fungi that can stimulate the growth of seedling maize as seen from plant height, leaf length, and leaf width are significantly different from control plants, namely the B. bassiana isolate BSwTd4 and the fungus M. anisopliae isolate MSwTp3.
