PENGGUNAAN DEGREE-DAYS DALAM MENGELOLA LALAT BUAH (BACTROCERA DORSALIS) PADA PERTANAMAN CABAI DI KECAMATAN SAKO KOTA PALEMBANG
The effect of temperature changes on pests, plants and the interaction between insect pests and plants has been widely discussed, including its direct effect on the activity and increase in fruit fly populations. Degree-days are measurements of heat units over time, calculated from the daily maximum and minimum temperatures. Degree-days are based on the rate of development of the insect at temperatures between the upper and lower limits for development. The purpose of this study was to measure the heat accumulation in the Degree-days parameter which had an impact on the activity of fruit flies on chili plantations in Sako District, Palembang City. Observations were made directly by cruise methods every day for 10 days. This observation was carried out in the morning at 10.00-12.00 WIB. Each observation measures Degree-days and changes in fruit fly population fluctuations in the field. The results indicate that the Degree-days with a high population of fruit flies is also high, this indicated the optimal Degree-days for fruit flies in chili fields in conditions of 5.5 DD and above if the Degree-days reached 5.5 DD then it is the appropriate time to implement control measures against fruit flies.
