KAJIAN BEBERAPA SIFAT KIMIA (pH, C-ORGANIK,N DAN P) TANAH MINERAL DI BAWAH LAPISAN GAMBUT PADA KEBUN RAYA SRIWIJAYA
Peat is formed naturally from incompletely decomposed plant remains with a thickness of 50 cm or more and accumulates in swamps. The peat soil underneath contains alluvial soil at various depths. This study aims to determine the thickness of the peat, the maturity of the peat and to determine the chemical properties of the mineral soil beneath the peat layer. This research was conducted at the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens, Bakung Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. This study used a detailed survey method using a 1:8,000 scale work map on peatland areas in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens with an area of 77 ha research area. Sampling used a systematic sampling method in which 1 soil sample was taken representing 7 hectares of mineral soil under the peat layer. Parameters observed included peat thickness, peat maturity, mineral soil color, soil pH, N-Total, P-Available and C-Organic. The results showed that the thickness of the peat at the study site was more dominantly very deep with peat depth > 300 cm and the maturity of the peat was more dominant raw (fibric), the color of the mineral soil layers of the peat was predominately gray and very dark gray, the soil pH value was very low. sour with value
