The chaya plant or known as Japanese papaya is a type of vegetable that is easy to cultivate, including in the marshland of lebak with a low fertility rate. For this reason, it is necessary to apply this type of manure to swamp soil to help increase soil fertility and help the growth of chaya plants to grow well. In general, the propagation of chaya is carried out vegetatively by stem cuttings. The stem cuttings used can be green cuttings or scion cuttings, middle stem cuttings with a brownish-green color and lower stem cuttings with a predominantly brownish tint. This research aims to determine the effect of manure application and the origin of stem cuttings material on the growth of chaya plants (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) planted in marshland. This research was conducted with a factorial randomized block design (F-RBD), which consisted of two factors, namely the type of manure and the origin of the cuttings. The first factor consists of bare marshland, the composition of marshland and cow manure by volume ratio (4:3) and the composition of marshland and chicken manure by volume ratio (4:3). The second factor consists in the origin of the material of the cuttings (upper cuttings, middle cuttings and lower cuttings). The results showed that the treatment of applying the type of manure and the origin of the stem cuttings material did not all have a noticeable effect on the observed change. Applying chicken manure to lebak swamp soil produced the best percentage of living cuttings and growing shoots. After a period of growth, the manure treatment with the best growth was the one given the addition of cow manure. Center stem cuttings yielded the best percentage of living cuttings and growing shoots percentage. After the growth period, chaya plants grown using lower stem cuttings produced the best growth compared to chaya plants grown using scion cuttings and mid stem cuttings.
