This study aims to evaluate the growth and production of black rice accession F4IP 6.11.1. and F3IT 1.18., identify and select mother plants for each accession that have the potential to become candidate varieties and select selected mother plant seeds that have the potential to become new varieties. Plants with the best quality will be selected to become candidates for new varieties, by looking at the variables that have been determined, including several variables in terms of growth and production of black rice rice plants accession IP 6.11.1. and IT 1.18, i.e. 1)Plant Height, 2) Total tillers, 3) Flowering Age, 4) Harvesting Age, 5) Number of productive tillers, 6) Number of panicles, 7) Panicle length, 8) Number of panicles with >85 maturity %, 9) Percentage of the number of panicles with maturity> 85%, 10) Total dry grain, 11) Total dry grain weight, 12) Number of healthy grain, 13) Rice grain weight, 14) 100 grain weight, 15) Yield index . Then identification and selection of prospective new varieties of plants were carried out. The identification and selection methods used in this study included, 1) mass selection in the field, by visually looking at plants that had aberrant properties and 2)identification and selection of selected mother plants using graphical methods and quadrant , in the graphical method the plants are selected based on their growth parameters while in the quadrant method the plants are selected based on the productivity of plants that have the potential to become prospective sires. In this study, two paddy fields were used for each accession of IP 6.11.1. and IT 1.18. with a spacing of 30cm x 30cm and the area of each plot is 2m x 10m. so that the total plants tested in this study were 176 plants with 88 plants in each accession. Data analysis was performed using a two sample t test. Statistical analysis calculations were performed using the Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) program. The results of this study indicate that there are several Sub-populations that are recommended to become candidates for new varieties, Sub-populations of SP-Febry-1, SP-Febry- 2, SP-Febry-3, SP-Febry-4, SP-Febry-5, SP-Febry-6, SP-Febry-7, and SP-Febry-8.
