This study aims to: 1) identify the local and superior rice varieties used and the reasons farmers choose to use these varieties in rice farming in Soak Batok Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. 2) Analyze and compare the productivity and income of rice farming using local and superior varieties in Soak Batok Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. 3) Analyze the factors that influence the income of rice farming using local and superior varieties in Soak Batok Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in Soak Batok Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The selection of the location was done purposively with the research method used the survey method. The sampling method used is disproportionated stratified random sampling. The data used are primary and secondary data. The results showed that the local varieties used by farmers were Siam, Rantai, and Kuning varieties, while the superior varieties used by farmers were IR42, Ciherang, and Selancar. Farmers who use local varieties choose to use local varieties because of the lower capital and the capability to adapt well to the environment. Farmers who use superior varieties switch to superior ones because of the efficient time and higher production. The average productivity of farmers using local varieties is 1,275 kg/ha/mt and the average productivity of farmers using superior varieties is 1,661 kg/ha/mt. The average income of farmers using local varieties is Rp.3.712.506/ha/mt and the av, and that using superior varieties is Rp.4.817.961/ha/mt. The factors that significantly affect the income of rice farming are land area, production costs, production, and rice varieties.
